Roughly each month here at Wincanton Health Centre, we process over 1500 paper prescriptions! That is equivalent to one whole reem of A4 paper or 500 sheets!
You can help us to minimise our impact on the environment and help save the NHS money by ordering your prescriptions online, through the NHS app.
When a patient hands in their repeat paper prescription it is given to the Reception team, who will then check your medication is due and submit a request to the GP. This can take up to 3 working days. In their admin time, the Duty GP will check and action all medication requested that day. The prescription request is then sent electronically to the patient’s nominated pharmacy to be dispensed.
When a patient submits a request via the NHS App (at any time of the day or night!), it will drop straight into the GP inbox for the GP to action that very same day or next day if ordering very late at night. A much quicker seamless process.
We understand that not everyone has access to the internet or enjoys technology, but please help us to help you by using the NHS App if you are able to.
